***MEDIA ADVISORY*** Legislators and Evacuees Discuss Dam Safety Efforts on One Year Anniversary of Oroville Dam Evacuation SACRAMENTO- Assemblyman James Gallagher (R – Yuba City) will hold a press conference to discuss his dam safety legislation, AB 1270, on the 1-year anniversary of the mass evacuation of hundreds of thousands of North Sacramento Valley residents. WHO: Assemblyman James Gallagher, Senator Jim Nielsen, Assemblywoman Susan Eggman Bill Connelly, Butte County Supervisor Shon Harris, Yuba City Vice Mayor Sandy Linville, Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce Other evacuees and affected organizations WHAT: Press Conference discussing new state dam safety legislation and the current status of Oroville Dam recovery effort WHEN: Monday, February 12 2:30 PM WHERE: State Capitol, North Steps WHY: On February 12th, 2017, hundreds of thousands of North State residents were forced to evacuate their homes as the result of the spillway failures at the Oroville Dam. On the one year anniversary of this mass evacuation, the legislature will be voting on Gallagher’s dam safety legislation, AB 1270. Gallagher and evacuees will discuss this important legislation and highlight Oroville Dam recovery efforts that remain unresolved.
